A monumental and historical statue that shown as milestone of Toraja history. The tragic story behind it, has shown that the Torajan being progressively changed by the infiltration of education and health services, eventhough it been paid with the sacrifice of soul. This has become a piece of Torajan history ever.

A friend and I stopped by for a moment from the relics of the first Christian Missionary in Toraja, Alm. Antonie Aris van de Loosdrecht. The location is in Bori 'village where colleagues spend about 30 minutes driving from downtown Rantepao. He is a genuine Dutch volunteer who served 103 years ago. Despite being of Dutch origin, he did not always agree with the policies of the Dutch East Indies colonial government which was still in power in Indonesia during the course of the 20th century. He did not hesitate to criticize and even condemned the government's actions which he said were arbitrary. The habit of the Toraja people who like to gather and listen to stories is used as an approach for children to educate and also introduce the gospel. His wife, Alida helps by teaching skills to local women. In this village, he lost his life while talking with the teacher at the school, suddenly a group of people came. Without further ado, one of the men threw a spear at van de Loosdrecht and stuck in his body. Van de Loosdrecht who was on the verge of death asked to be left alone. He prayed and was still able to hold on for 15 minutes before finally drooping forever (Toby Alice Volkman, Feasts of Honor: Rituals and Change in the Toraja Highlands, 1985: 36). His dedication which became the forerunner to the course of Church services in Toraja. May he calm down by his side and that the construction of his museum be completed soon so that the younger generation will not forget one of the history of the Diakonia in Toraja.
