I love local markets, you get to see what is grown in the area and get a real feel for the locals. Lots of fresh vegetables and fruit, herbs and spices. It can be a little hard seeing the animals they eat if your not exposed to that very often but they are one of the poorest island in Indonesia eat what they need to survive. Huge amounts of fresh fish also. Make sure you visit!

This pasar Waikabubak is an old market with old buildings in West Sumba. It is crowded with people, cars and motorbikes. You need to be careful because cars, motorbikes is in every direction!. Need to clean and put in order all the vendors selling in this market. The local government plan to move this old market to a new place. Lots of people sell lots of things such vegetables, fruits, snacks and etc. Come and see by yourself!!!

A place to find local spices and inexpensive woven textiles - the west Sumba weaving is geometric with simple patterns - different than its eastern side.
