Starting from the Engineering Expert (KAT) course, under the auspices of the Padang Technology Education Foundation (Notary Deed no.5 year 1972), the Padang Engineering Academy (ATP) was established on February 21, 1973. At that time ATP had 2 study programs namely Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering , then added with Electrical Engineering in 1978. With strong enthusiasm and motivation to face the challenges and problems of the West Sumatara area in producing skilled and professional human resources, ATP developed into the Padang Engineering College (STTP) on October 19, 1989. In its development, STTP with 6 The engineering study program manages the undergraduate and D3 academic education pathways. Going through a long process. Based on comprehensive, integral studies and looking at trends in science and technology development as well as future workforce needs, STTP widens the scope and study of engineering by adding 3 new study programs undergraduate academic pathways, namely Geodesy Engineering, Materials Engineering and Information Engineering. Finally in accordance with Kepmendiknas no. 113 / D / O / 2002 dated 7 June 2002, STTP changed its form to the Padang ITP Institute of Technology). In 2002, the Padang Institute of Technology passed the selection along with 40 other universities from 104 PTN and PTS in Indonesia who competed for the Batch II Professional Education Development Project (TPSDP). Through this project, it will be used to strengthen the D3 Civil Engineering study program and D3 Mechanical Engineering study program. Other competitive grants obtained in 2003/2004 are the Semi-QUE V project for the D3 Electrical Engineering study program. Furthermore, ITP also received the A1 Competition Grant Project from the Directorate General of Higher Education which was used to strengthen the S1 Mechanical Engineering study program and the A2 Competition Grant Project for the S1 Electrical Engineering study program. This proves the high trust of the national education community in ITP. Armed with the resources they have, ITP will continuously develop itself (continuous improvement), apart from the education pathway ITP also carries out activities that support education such as:nnTraining (Training) Consultant (Consultant) Construction (Construction) Material Test (Material Test) Manufacturing (Fabrication) Weldding Center (Center for Welding) Information Communication Technology (ICT)nnUntil now, ITP has two faculties, namely:nnFaculty of Civil Engineering and Planning (FTSP)nnCivil EngineeringnnUndergraduate Program (S1)nnDiploma III (D3)nnGeodesy EngineeringnnUndergraduate Program (S1)nnFaculty of Industrial Technology (FTI)nnMechanical EngineeringnnUndergraduate Program (S1)nnDiploma III (D3)nnMaterial EngineeringnnUndergraduate Program (S1)nnElectrical EngineeringnnUndergraduate Program (S1)nnElectrical engineeringnnDiploma III (D3)nnTechnical InformationnnUndergraduate Program (S1)
