Geomorphologically, the western lowlands of Alas Purwo are separated bynkarst hills by a north-south fault strip extending to the north andnforming Pangpang Bay which is also the downstream and estuary of riversnwhich flows from the Ijen volcano complex. Pangpang Bay coastal areanis a mangrove greenbelt which is designated as one of the essential ecosystemsrin Indonesia, because it is the only mangrove area left on the coastreast of East Java Province.nnActing as a barrier to abrasion and tidal wavesrheight and other ecological functions, the presence of mangrove forests in geoforestrAlas Purwo is important. This mangrove geoforest is 8 km long, the width of the bayr3.5 km with an area of 3,000 ha of water and an area of 2,926.6 ha of mangrove forestr(BKSDA, 2018) with the diversity of mangrove species and bird speciesrprotected and endangered. Based on data from the Alas Purwo National Park onr(2001) in the Pangpang Bay area found 12 types of mangrove species among themrAegiceras floridum (NT status and endemic to SE Asia), Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, Ceriopsrdecandra (NT status and endemic to Asia), Ceriops tagal, Excoecaria agallocha,nLumnitzera racemosa, Rhizophora apiculata, Rhizophora mucronata, Scyphiphoranhydrophyllacea, Sonneratia alba, Sonneratia caseolaris, Xylocarpus granatum.nnThis matterrreinforced by the results of research by Acik and Sudarmadji (2017) which show thatnThis mangrove forest is dominated by the community structure R apiculata - R.mucronata. Of the twelve types of mangroves that have been found, there are three species of mangrovesrit can be said that it is rarely found in mangroves in Banyuwangi Regencyrsuch as the species Aegiceras floridum, Excoecaria agallocha and Scyphiphora.nnThe potential of the mangrove area in Pangpang Bay is not only onrmangrove vegetation only, considering the ecosystem in mangrove vegetation is veryrcomplex. The main attraction of the mangrove ecosystem is the potential for diversityrwildlife, especially water birds and migratory birds. Recordedrthat in October-December is the time of bird migration season, there isr11 bird species found in Pangpang Bay such as Egretta alba, Egretta, Ardeola speciosa, Sterna hirundo, Todiramphus chloris, Collocalia vestita,rMerops philippinus, Acridotheres javanicus, Actitis hypoleucos, Actitis hypoleucos,rLeptoptilos javanicus, and Numenius sp. Of the 11 bird species foundrin Pangpang Bay there is one species of the type Leptoptilos javanicus or canrwe know the local name stork tongtong into Vulnerable statusn(vulnerable) at IUCN 2020 whose population continues to decline.
