Every year on February 5, thousands of people from across Papua come to this place to hold a celebration commemorating the arrival of Ottow and Geissler. The two Germans arrived at Mansinam Island with a mission to spread the gospel. But at that time, the tribes who inhabited Mansinam Island were closed to foreigners who came. Ottow and Gaissler did not give up. They continued to struggle to spread Christianity to the Numfor Tribe, the tribe that inhabited Mansinam Island.nnAbout a few kilometers before anchoring on Mansinam Island, a cross-shaped monument could be seen. That was an inscription intended for the services of Ottow and Geissler. At the bottom of the inscription is written, Soli deo Gloria De Eerste Zendelingen van Nederlandsch Nieuw Guinee C.W. Ottow En J.G. Geissler Zyn Hier Geland op 5-2-1855 (first zending for Papuan Ottow-Geissler arrived here 5 February 1855
