We visited Afelinus on the way down from Kelimutu in Sept 2018. His small puppy named Lemon attracted us and we ended up having a coffee on his porch. It is not really a coffee place, it is his home :) He showed us traditional clothes and insisted we try it :D so we ended up with couple of funny pictures to remember. After all, it was very pleasant break on our descent, host was nice and puppy amazing :)

The smile of local farmer Afelinus will be your highlight of the Kelimutu descent when you enter Pemo village. His coffee deserves to be drunken and if you are lucky he shows you some of the traditional clothing too. I understood homestay is also a possibility. This man has a heart of gold!

Avelinus invites passers-by afor a coffee. He is very welcoming and explains that his coffee is grown, picked, processed and packed locally and is all natural. He gives you a chance to take a photo in a locally made Ikat fabric and makes your coffee break a highlight. He offers also home stay, home made food and guiding service for hiking Kelimutu. After you drank your coffee, he offers you to buy (his) coffee powder but it is not a must. If you want to have a real local experience visit Avelinus, he will become a local legend.

An incredible experience, Afelinus and his family are exceptional, an authentic human moment, on 10 months of travel in 7 countries, this experience is one of those I will never forget ... Do not hesitate to visit him, you will not regret it for sure ...
