The Palagan Mendalan monument, which was inaugurated on May 26, 1982, is in the form of a statue of First Lieutenant Posthumous Soediarto and is surrounded by a garden.nThis monument was built to commemorate the struggle of the TNI together with the people in the war for independence in the West Malang area to Kandangan in December 1948. Soediarto was one of the commanders who died in the battle over the Mendalan power plant, he died in close combat against KNIL soldiers.nIt is hoped that this monument can pass on the spirit of heroism to the next generation. The younger generation must know that this country is being fought for with blood and tears.nUnfortunate that the current condition of the monument, which is also a landmark of Ngantang, is somewhat neglected.nDo not know, who should be responsible for maintaining this monument.
Ok
One of the war monuments during the Dutch colonial period in West Malang was precisely in Ngantang Subdistrict, as the Palagan Mendalan monument. The figure depicted in the shape of the statue is First Lieutenant Anumerta Soediarto. He is the leader of fighting the fighters against the KNIL. You can visit this monument without paying a penny or free. On the monument there are reliefs that depict the atmosphere of the time of the battle first. Don't forget to stop by when you are on your way to Malang-Jombang / Kediri via Batu Pujon.
Historic sites. Is a statue of captain sugiyarto who died in the battle against the Dutch colonists
The monument which was built to commemorate the struggle of the people in West Malang has a pretty interesting name because Mendalan is a name that is included in the Kasembon Sub-district area. But the formation of the Monument was certainly not a matter of location, but the persistence of the people of Kasembon, Ngantang, and Kandangan (Kediri) to defend themselves from the Dutch attack during the Military Aggression in 1947. The story, after mastering several important buildings in the city of Malang which had been burned at that time by fighters. The Dutch army and KNIL move to spread, some to the South, West and East. To go to the West they tried to take over the Selorejo Hydroelectric Power Plant, Mendalan Hydroelectric Power Plant and Siman Hydroelectric Power Plant located in the Kasembon area. One of the soldiers who led the Indonesian combatant forces in the area was First Lieutenant General Soediarto who fought to the death with the desire not to allow vital facilities for the electrical energy source to be regained again by the Dutch. From the battle, several power generators were damaged and were repaired only 10 years later. Quoted from the book Monument of Struggle of East Java, the reason for placing the Monument in the Ngantang T-junction is because if it becomes the middle boundary between the Selorejo Hydroelectric Power Plant and the Mendalan Hydroelectric Power Plant. And in the Ngantang area itself is the basis of the struggle of First Lieutenant General Soediarto.
