Gamel Struggle Monument at the west end of Jl. Gamelan Kidul, Yogyakarta. Close to the house, so often pass.nnMaybe someone is wondering, the name is gamel (an), how come, the symbols are humans and horses? So, the toponymy of the villages in the nJerong Beteng Kraton area, mostly comes from the status or profession of the occupants in the past. In Javanese, gamel means a person who works to care for horses. And, in the past this village was the residence of the courtiers who cared for the horses belonging to the Kraton, so that it was later called the Gamelan (village).
