Great Bali activity. Most companies offer a tour that starts with 3am pick up from your hotel, later the bus brings you at around 4-4,30am to the mountain and you start a 1 hour climb to the top. Once at the top you can witness amazing sunrise.nTip: wear a good walking and outdoor shoes, look at weather forecast as the tour is no fun if it rains...

We were really lucky with a beautiful sunrise but I will not walk the mountain or visit the area again. Tourism has caused the local people to exploit their sacred volcanic mountain to the point where erosion and plastic pollution are the main attractions and the people are the least friendly that we encountered throughout the whole of Bali. It is a great pity but this is an example of how lack of control and insight combined with the lure of money has allowed the effects of tourism to destroy people's nature and the paradise they lived in.
