Misool Filling Station

The best place to catch a breath from your long long travels to get to the port!

I have often passed this place called Misool Filling Station which is located opposite the city airport in Sorong. At first, I thought this was just a souvenir shop, an information center for foreigners, or a tourist stop before they continue their trip to Raja Ampat or before they fly back to Jakarta. Also, at first, I thought Misool Filling Station’s visitors are only limited to guests from Misool Eco Resorts, a resort located in remote Raja Ampat, just south of the equator, hidden in the archipelago (this resort comes from the same foundation as the Misool Filling Station).nAfter signing up to Google local guides and reading some reviews about places in my (not-so-new) neighborhood, I recently found out that Misool Filling Station is also a café that is open for public and (fortunately) this café is not popular among young locals in Sorong, making this place just like a hidden gem for me. In line with its parent foundation, this café promotes eco-friendly business as they do not use plastic straws in drinks they served, also they will offer that your receipt is sent by e-mail so that it will become paperless (they also serve vegan-friendly food!). This cafe is a stopover with WiFi and cold drinks that we need in a hot and dusty city of Sorong, especially after returning from the beautiful islands in the middle of nowhere with no signals.nLast, they sell good quality semi-dry snorkel gear that is hard to find around this area.

Great place to relax while waiting for your flight or for your transfer out of Sorong. The wifi barely works, but the drinks are good.

Great place to relax and refill on good food as well as very useful tips for Sorong or Raja Ampat. Was a very welcome discovery when our flight into Sorong dropped us at 5:30, with the Raja Ampat tourist office opening at 9.00 am. Really lovely collection of local silk garments and some swimming/diving equipment. The very friendly staff is their true asset!
