This place was booming in the '90s, I've been told. Now it's just meh. There's lots of Victoria Crowned Pigeons, cassowaries, cockatoos, and some other random species, but not a whole lot of variety like in the good old days. All the birds of paradise are gone now. At least the birds all looked healthy, had plenty of room to fly, and were well fed. The orchid area was locked when we went there and none were in bloom. Overall, the park looks run down. It could use some landscaping and gardening. But if you have a residential visa in Indonesia it's cheap to enter, so to me it's worth it. Probably cheap for non-residents, too.

Bird Park and Orchid Park, located in East Biak.nOne of the work units of the UPT Forestry Service and the environment belonging to the Biak Regency government.nHere you can see the native bird species from Biak, as well as the types of orchids found in Papua and breed in particular.nUnfortunately it is poorly maintained and seems neglected, needs improvement and attention from the government.
