Betang traditional house that is still original n is maintained but lack of care is very unfortunate if maintained it can become a beautiful cultural heritage
Rio Dermawan (04/12/2018)
The uniqueness of this traditional house that makes it different from other tribal traditional houses is its long size. This is inseparable from the life history of the Dayaks who used to love living in groups. The Betang House was then built to accommodate and protect the members of the Dayak tribe group. Not surprisingly, the Betang House was very long and could accommodate up to hundreds of families.nnAdmittedly, at this time it is very rare to find a Betang House that is very long. In every city in West Kalimantan there is usually a Betang House. However, the existing Betang House is often no longer a Betang House built by the Dayaks, but a house built by the government as a symbol and a tourist destination in the area. Even that, the size is not as long as the size normally formed by the Dayak community. Some Betang Houses built by the government can be found in Singkawang and Pontianak. Meanwhile, if you want to see directly the Betang House which was founded by the local Dayak community, you have to be willing to go to great lengths to find it in remote villages.
