Purba Martelu Nature Reserve was previously a protected forest that had been established since the days of colonialism in 1916 in Zeelfbesstur on July 8, 1916, later confirmed by the Border Committee appointed based on the Governor of East Coast of Pertja on August 23, 1935 No. 125 / B / AZ, according to the Verbaal Process made on September 20, 1938 with Register No.9 / SM. Based on the Decree of the Minister of Agriculture No.923 / Kpts / Um / 12/1982 dated December 27, 1982, it was stated that the Purba Register 9 / SM Martelu Forest Area located in Simalungun Regency was included in the Map of Regional Province Forest Confirmation and Stewardship Procedure Level I of North Sumatra and designated as Martelu Purba Protection Forest. Furthermore, in 1993 with the Minister of Forestry Decree No.471 / Kpts-II / 1993 dated September 2, 1993, the status of the area turned into a Nature Reserve.nnPurba Martelu Nature Reserve is administratively located in Purba Tongah Village and Tiga Runggu Village, Purba District, Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra Province. Based on the administration of conservation forest management, the Purba Martelu Nature Reserve is located in the Area I Natural Resources Conservation Area based in Kabanjahe, North Sumatra's Natural Resources Conservation Center. The Purba Martelu Nature Reserve is geographically located on Koorninat 2 ° 53 ’- 2 ° 54’ North Latitude and 98 ° 42 ’- 98 ° 43’ East Longitude. The Purba Martelu Nature Reserve is located in the Snake River Watershed. Based on the location at altitude above sea level (asl), the Purba Martelu Nature Reserve is located at an altitude of up to 1,320 m above sea level. After turning into a Nature Reserve, based on the Minister of Forestry Decree No.471 / Kpts-II / 1993 dated September 2, 1993, the Purba Martelu Nature Reserve has an area of ​​195 hectares.
