Great example of the colonial mining history in the town. The tunnel is small yet very exciting to take a look into and see how the working environment of miners looked like. Also you'll see how the local miners were enslaved by the Dutch; this place provides a lesson for future generations as well.

My favorite place to visit at old mining town Sawahlunto is the Mbah Soero hole mine site. It's a wonderful experience to go down the mine shaft wearing safety helmet and safety boots. A tour guide will take you down the mine shaft and share stories how the it was reopened and restored for tourists. Stories of the miners and how they mined the coals are also shared.

Nice and clean place. The local guide tell basic complete story. Use adequate PPE such as helmet and rubber boots during entering the hole mine.
