Very cool place to experience the Hindu tradition and culture. We were able to catch a really cool ceremony that was only performed once every couple of years and this really friendly couple who spoke English, welcomed us right in and explained what was going on. It was such an educational and welcoming experience. We loved it!nnThere's also a shoe storage fee that is mandatory.nnNote: Visited prior to COVID, so things may be slightly different.

The oldest Hindu temple in Kuala Lumpur is now surrounded by Chinatown. It was founded in 1873 by an Indian businessman K. Thamboosamy Pillay who also bought and dedicated the land and other temples in Batu Cave KL to tamil worshipers. He must have been a person of good heart because he not only took care of the early immigrant arrivals from India but donated money to catholic church and other good causes too. Indian community should be thankful for his contributions towards shaping Kuala Lumpur in those early colonial days.
