Favela Mentawai has awesome energy. With a private beach on an almost private island, they are surrounded by nature on its best. The private sand pit has on the inside the cleanest, most preserved, biodiverse mangrove of all Mentawai Islands. Every big resort or camp charges people to come and visit, at Favela it's on your door step. The place is surrounded by the most clear ocean water and different tones that goes from transparent to green and blue. There's not a single plastic or trash around. The owners clean it every day! Food is home made and amazing, felt like I was eating at grandma's house everyday. Accommodation is unreal and the new guest house is right on the sand with a unique wood design and dark glass everywhere so you can contemplate the magnificent view while no one can see you on the inside. They have very good internet connection which is super rare around these islands and most places will charge you a fortune for it. Mosquitoes and sandflies are usually in the morning and afternoon but honestly didn't bother me at all. Thought they would eat me alive as it happened in other places around here but because they have a strictly cleaning policy that wasn't problem at all. Surfing wise there is no doubts the owner, with 10 years pexperience in the Mentawai Islands and highly skilled surfcoach, is probably one of the best you can get around, very polite, speaks fluent local language and has been part of the mentawaian boardriders club as a judge for many times. I felt not only safe but very important, welcomed by everyone when arriving with him on the more than 10 surf spots around. They are getting a bigger speed boat and going to Playgrounds and HTs will be an option from 2020....... highly recommend

Flavio speak Indonesian and know / respect all locals, what creates a really friendly atmosphere.
