The East Timor museum is located north of the Indonesian Children's Palace, facing south, towards the Indonesian Stamp Museum and the Indonesian Fauna Museum and Komodo Reptile Park. Originally this museum was a bridge that was built in 1979 and was inaugurated on April 20, 1980 by President Soeharto. After the province of East Timor separated itself from the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, the East Timor platform then became a monument and became the responsibility of TMII. As a monument, the East Timor platform then became a museum under the management of the Indonesian Children's Palace Manager. The area of this museum is 4,988 m2, featuring a Los Palos resident's house, consisting of a supporting building. The main building is called uma lautem or dagada, in the form of a house on stilts with four pillars three meters above the ground, rectangular in shape with a sloping roof. The top is coated in palm fiber, wood-walled, and equipped with many windows that serve as lighting during the day. Originally, the main beam uses iron wood, while the pole uses eucalyptus wood that is tied with ropes from rattan.nnIn the uma latem, exhibits typical items of East Timor in the form of food equipment, traditional clothing, traditional weapons, traditional musical instruments, handicrafts, and other equipment such as woven from daunt al, ceramics or manatutu, woven fabrics typical of East Timor ( tais), and various snails from the island of Atauro. There were also displayed photographs showing natural beauty, including a white sand beach and a monument in the form of a statue of Christ the King and other photographs that reminded that East Timor was once part of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.nnUma latem supporting buildings in the form of twin stage buildings are rounded and have no walls. Both of these buildings are flanking the main building, functioning as a traditional meeting hall, but the Museum of East Timor is used as a resting place for visitors. Another supporting building, in the form of a stage that is used for performing arts that can be used by the public for events that require a stage and the audience sitting on the ground floor uma lautem. This museum was, when it was still a regional platform, had received a visit from the Prime Minister of India, the noble Sanjiva Reddy and his wife on December 4, 1981 and was pleased to plant a banyan tree of friendship between the two countries.
