500 Lohan Temple

An interesting place and indeed it is one of the MUST GO tourist attractions in Tanjung Pinang. A mimic of the famous Terracotta soldiers. But this is a statue of all different Chinese Lohan and each have different faces and even different bodies depicting the respective Lohan. Though the place is small and I believed there are still some unfinished items, it is already a nice place to visit and walk around and enjoy the scenes and its aura. And most importantly it is well maintained. And if you have time, do read the story board pasted along the fence. It is a short and simple story and it is easy to understand. It give you a high level understand of some of the complex legends of ancient land and how it is depicted by some of the lohans.

Amazing place...Just looking at the 500 different statues will fill you with awe. It is a pity that they cannot be seen up close, but if one has a keen eye, he/she will appreciate the fact that no two statues are same. The golden buddha at the top is another major attraction in the same compound.

Amazing place to visit when you are in Tanjung Pinang, a bit far from town but it worth. Can see 500 lohan/arhat, all very unique and different facial expressions. This area is not that big and you should be able to finish it less than an hour. When you were there, just take your time to visit all the place. This place close at 5pm, so please reach there before 4pm.

Pretty new and fresh spot for 45 min visit which is enough. The area is rather small. Most of the statues are in one area and you can see the faces of the first line statues. Kids 12 and under are free, rest the same price as for adults. Other tourists would like to get photos with you :) A good spot to to visit.

This place looked majestic from the entrance with a huge statue of Bodhisattva overlooking the entrance way. Serene temple grounds with supposedly 500 life-sized Lohan/arhat stone statues with intricate physique and facial expressions, all unique and different. Unfortunately the narration are all in Mandarin so if you can’t read Mandarin, it would be a waste. There is a temple within which you can pray and make offerings. The area isn’t very big and you should be able to finish within an hour. Entrance fee is 30,000 rupiahs. Note that you may wish to negotiate with your Go-Jek driver to wait for you as there are no return cars available for booking. Recommended to visit just before closing at 5pm when it is not too hot.
