The best place to back to nature

I must say that this is one of the best and authentic experience I had for a very long time. In this world where tourism is first and foremost a business, authentic indigenous experience is really hard to come by. On top of this is the Baduy Tribe themselves and their simple way of life makes the entire experience surreal to say the least. For example, the lady that was spinning yarn, she was doing this not because I was passing by, she does this whole day, everyday, and is a big part of her family income. The boys playing traditional musical instruments in the evening, they weren't playing for me, they were actually enjoying themselves, amongst themselves. I just happen to be near by and witnessing their life, their joy. If they had handphones or electricity... I think this review would have been different. I'm not going to elaborate too much here about Baduy, you can easily read these from the internet.nnThe hike is easy and the ascend is gradual except for several places where the gradient is higher but nothing technical. A good walking shoe and plenty of water and bring some snacks for yourself as well as gifts for kids along the way. Also bring some sugar for the house owner, and if you like some cigarettes (cloves) as well.nnI went in mid Sept 2019 and the climate is nice and sunny but not too hot. It gets cooler at the higher altitudes. I suggest to avoid raining season as some part of the path are red soils which will be muddy and sticky (and slippery) during wet seasons. There is no mosquitos along the way and also none in the village house I spent the night (slept outdoor on the verandah). Bring your own sleeping matt or sleeping bag. Bring a small towel as you'll be taking bath in the river and a change of clothes. Also bring a plastic shopping bag to keep all your rubbish with you.
