The Bingkudu Mosque or often known as the Jamik Bingkudu Mosque is one of the oldest mosques in Indonesia which was founded by the Padri in the midst of the Padri war in West Sumatra in 1823. This mosque with a typical Minangkabau architecture is located in Jorong Bingkudu, Nagari Canduang Koto Laweh, District Canduang, Agam Regency, West Sumatra. When it was founded, the mosque building was made of wood, starting from the floor, pillars, to the walls of the mosque. Currently, apart from being used as a religious activity for Muslims and a means of religious education for students, the Bingkudu Mosque is also used as the head office of the Jorong Bingkudu Poverty Eradication Coordination Team. Even long before, the government of Agam Regency has designated it as a cultural heritage in 1989. So that in 1991, this mosque began to undergo a complete restoration.nnwikipedia sources
