The best place I stayed when I was in Raja Ampat few years ago. The owner are friendly. They always help you whenever you need them. The place has a beautiful front beach and you can see the clear water from the beach. They charge the room per person not per room. You get 3 times meal. And the meal usually with fish. I love fish by the way. Hope to come back here again one day.

We were thinking to stay here to end our wonderful stay in Raja ampat as we found this local village band marching toward this resort to celebrate the opening. Yet, on arrival we were basically abused by the (non native...) owner for having stepped in its (open!) property and he didn't even let the band come in... If you could describe a caricature of a colonizer looks like, this would be it! The resort looks nice but sadly the encounter with this foreigner was our only unpleasant experience in all our welcoming stay in Papua.

We had a great time. The host Timon was very helpful in arranging activities like snorkeling, diving or bird watching. We're vegetarians and they made delicious vegetarian food for us.nnWe missed our first night because of delayed flights and we didn't have to pay for that night, something that I wouldn't see happening when staying at a resort.nnThe location is also very nice, local kids come playing around the house, hunting for fish. And there's a beautiful house reef just in front of the stay, best I've ever seen and I've traveled quite a lot.

Response to review of Ms Erminia. I was a guest at the Alter-Native Stay when you showed up on the porch of our hut. Checking out how our hut looked. You did not introduce yourself to the staff (or us) and did not ask if it would be OK to have a look around. This is not the way one should behave on private properties. It is not only unpolite, but hotel owners also do not want strangers to just wander around guests (and their possessions). You were rightly asked what you were doing here.nnI am pretty sure that the staff would have given you a tour if you would have asked them beforehand. They are lovely people. And then you also would have been invited to the little New Years party with the villagers that took place later in the afternoon in the Alter-Native Stay. That would have been a great opportunity to meet the local community.nnAnd colonial???? I think that uninvited wandering around Papuan properties without any politeness towards owner or Papuan staff is definitely colonial behaviour.
