quite surreal but not as scary as anticipated. caretaker / guide are quiet and relaxed and open to all questions. it isn’t a solemn or serious situation. it is though run down and dirty. under sensing that’s its their ancient practice and culture (before Hindu came to bali) but it’s weird to see corpses, bones and remains just scattered on the ground literally side by side w trash. there’s paper, money, old flip flops and broken bones just strewn about. One of the statues was tipped over and the guy said they just leave it because that’s how it occurred naturally. it makes for a run down, haphazard, land full type scene. the bamboo cages are also old and in disrepair. if the cemetery was manicured well, cleaner and generally more organized it would be actually quite an enchanting and respectful scene. u end up feeling bad that the final resting spot for these people is amongst rags and filth. whatever, it’s their culture and tradition. recommended either way. donation helpful but not mandatory and no one will ask.

Complete waste of money. The lack of upkeep and piles of trash is an absolute disgrace. Not only is the price of the boat ride exhorbitant (even after negotiation) but the man on duty at the cemetery wants a further 'donation'. He sits there all day doing absolutely nothing to clean up or tidy the place or even to give the information sign a wash!nDon't waste your money!

A lot of touts around and don't ask anything but to the officer. The fixed price is on the board in front of the ticket counter, once again, be careful of locals because they'll give you a very high price

It's not worth it. The boat ride is too expensive for 5 minutes of ride. Initially we were told to pay 300 000 per person, then the price was reduced to 200 000 per person with swearing to God that it is the cheapest price. Eventually we paid 150 000 rupias per person which is still too expensive for what we saw. Just the smallest cemetery without any magical atmosphere as it is described in guides. A lot of trash and people on the boats waiting for you and asking for money.

The worst place to visit in bali. Expensive and full of trash. I saw an documentary on internet and was very much excited to visit the place. However, after visiting the place I figured out the documentary is kind of misleading and doesn’t match with the place at all. A couple went there with us on the same day and felt the same. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY.
