This mini stadium is an important historical part of Persija Jakarta, one of the most succesful football club in Indonesia, as its first homebase. VIJ or Voetbalbond Indonesische Jacatra (Indonesian Football Association Jakarta in Dutch), is the former name of Persija when it was born in 1928, as a local football club run by Indonesian, and also a form of struggle against Dutch colonialism. Until now, the sacred name is preserved for the name of this mini stadium.
