Ruteng Puu Traditional village

Don't give money to kids, give them knowledge. It will last long.

surrounding area is actually good for a walk. very lush in rainy season. the village itself is just a few straw roof houses. NOT WORTH 22000rp as the door man and a girl asked for. nothing much to see and you can just see it from outside WITHOUT paying the ticket

Gave a donation and signed in, asked the woman if its OK to take photos of everything and she agreed. Half way round was told off my an elderly man for taking a photo of what I guess is his house. Made me feel uncomfortable as I didn't think it was wrong. Then later my partner was bombarded by kids, not to say hello or greet but they wanted to steal the banana that was in her side pouch of her backpack. Instead of asking for it they just tried to grab it. I understand its a living village and we need to show respect but if you charge someone to come in and visit your village you should have a mutual respect. Didn't feel welcome at all. Very disappointed as the buildings were beautiful and traditional.

I showed up and guy asked me to register. I read they accept donations for the local school and offered 20000 but he didn’t have change so gave 16000. It appears people live in houses but no signs or information available. Little kids just asked for pens, books or money. Not really worth your time but quick trip doesn’t hurt.
