Small airport which has good facility. The runway is long enough for a Boeing 737 to land. It's pretty clean and the parking lot is big enough. The location is near the center of Tambolaka, the capitol city of South Western Sumba Regency. You won't see long queue here since the route to this airport is not too many. Overall, I like it.

Small but very comfortable airport.nBetter than the airport in Waingapu (East Sumba). The waiting room provides comfortable seats and sofa, fully air-conditioned.nThe airport lacks shops that sell local souvenirs and delicacies.

A small airport but quite comfortable. Bigger and nicer than Umbu Mehang Kunda Airport in Waingapu (Sumba Timur). The runway is longer so that a big airplane like Garuda could takes off and land here. The arrival lounge is air conditioned with restrooms at the corner. The ladies restroom has three rooms, but has problem on the door lock in each room (the door lock doesn’t function well). I heard that some guests were locked when using this facility.nnThe waiting room is full air-conditioned and quite spacious with comfy sofas and also a restroom but has the same problem on the door lock.nnOutside the building, you can find cafeterias that will serve you foods and drinks, also snacks. A spacious parking area but very hot as there is no big trees around. The authority should plant some trees here to reduce the heat.nnThe good thing is that the staffs are friendly and helpful. They do the work properly to serve the customers/guests.

Tambolaka airport has been redeveloped to handle the increasing volume of tourists over the last few years. It's a small airport and does the job and extensions to the runway are already under way to handle larger planes form more destinations. Its seems very busy now as i've been going there for nearly two years and have seen the increase in passenger numbers rise quickly. flights are getting sold out, often well in advance and the cost to fly has increased significantly. Apparently there were only 3 flights a week 3-4 years back and now around 20 flights are touching down per week. Don't expect much when you land, but its got a nice look and feel. The entrance has been redeveloped and looks great, constant improvements happening as this is the key airport to the more touristy part of the Island, being West and south west Sumba.
