Toba Aquarium

Visited this place 1 year ago and it was outstanding, one of the best aquariums I've ever been to. Animals seem to be well taken care of and enjoy the stimulation as much as the visitors. Getting to pat a walrus was pretty cool too!

This is a very good place to visit with your family. There are a number of amazing sea creatures that will amaze you. The ticket is 2.500 yen. But it was worth it. I spent a meaningful time here learning about sea animals. The place is divided into alphabetical sections, so, you will not miss anything. Just start from A, B, C and so on. It was fun!!!!

Not the newest and I found the layout a bit confusing. Since tanks were packed with fish! I'm not sure if that's good or bad though ud83eudd14nBut it felt like, let's get in as much as we can...

Holding more than 1,200 species Toba Aquarium is the biggest aquarium in Japan. The aquarium is most known for its highlight animal Dugong on display. Dugong was sent to this aquarium when an infant species was discovered and protected in Philippines back in 1980's. This aquarium is one of two aquariums in the world where you can see Dugong in captivity. In this aquarium is divided in 12 area zones according to the environment of species on display. The length of the facility is as long as 240 meters and its path inside requires 1.5 km of walking distance to complete a tour. You can have a total freedom in the way you make your own course to go around inside, but be sure not to miss any part of precious exhibition. The whole tour would take somewhere between 3 to 4 hours on average. Make sure that the facility closes at 17:00 so that you would have enough time to go around at your own pace.
