Darul Qur’an Islamic High School (STAIDA) Payakumbuh West Sumatra was established based on the Decree of the Director General of Islamic Education, Ministry of Religion, Republic of Indonesia Number Dj. I / 373/2010 concerning Approval for the Establishment of the Darul Qur'an Payakumbuh Islamic College (STAI), the Darul Furqon Payakumbuh Foundation. Then in an event which was quite lively on November 2, 2010 the operation was officially opened by the Governor of West Sumatra (Prof. Dr. Irwan Prayitno) which was also attended by the Head of Regional Office of the Ministry of Religion of West Sumatra Province and Kopertais Region VI West Sumatra.nThe establishment of Payakumbuh STAIDA originated from an idea that was coined by Mr. Mayor Payakumbuh (H. Josrizal Zain) which he mentioned to an al-Qur'an figure who was once an international qori, Dr. H. Syar'i bin Sumin, MA at an event at the Mayor's residence. This is also a clear evidence of the commitment of the city government to realize a society of faith and betaqwa to God Almighty through education, especially Higher Education.nThe high interest of high school graduates to continue their education to a tertiary institution of Religion, has increasingly established the determination of the founders, even some of the graduates of high school / Aliyah who want to explore the field of al-Qur'an science, often clash with the absence of institutions that can channel the wishes in his area so he must go outside the area which of course requires a relatively large cost. The capacity of state universities in West Sumatra for the S.1 level is also still very limited. Only 22.8% of high school graduates or there are around 8,962 people who are not accommodated. Quantitatively, the number that was not accommodated by PTN / PTS both religious and general in West Sumatra reached 26,969 people in the 2008/2009 school year.nTo prepare for the establishment of Payakumbuh STAIDA a committee was established through the Mayor's Decree Payakumbuh Number: 450.01 / 147 / WK-PYK / 2009 concerning the Establishment of the Committee for the Establishment of the Islamic University of Darul Qur'an (STAIDA) of Payakumbuh City dated; February 5, 2009 and the issuance of Notarial Deed of Suhairiadi, SH on March 25, 2009 concerning the founding of the Darul Furqon Foundation, Payakumbuh City, as an institution for protecting these tertiary institutions.nSupport for the establishment of STAIDA also came from various existing social organizations, such as MUI, LPTQ, LKAAM, Bundo Kanduang and others.
