Amazing place and architecture. I enjoyed the sunset, environment and the people who volunteer there. I particularly enjoyed the villas and the free-roaming animals. It is strongly advisable to carry your own equipment such as snorkels. The snorkels do not work and some activities are not available, I hope the management would look into better SOPs to improve the overall quality of activities at their resort.

Mahi-Mahi surf resort is paradise!nnI was there for 16 days at the end of December and it was the best vacation of my life. (I’m a 27 year old solo female traveller)nThe resort: It is located right on the beach with every room having a sea view. The grounds are very well kept and everything looks amazing. The water buffalos that groom the grass and the goats hanging out around the resort also give the place a special feel. The pool is so nice. It is a great spot to relax and cool down during the day and the perfect sunset watching spot for the evenings.nnThe rooms: The rooms are super clean and pretty. They provide beach and bath towels as well as soap, conditioner and shampoo. That’s very useful and appreciated when you are only travelling with a backpack. They clean the rooms daily and for a very low price they can also do your laundry. Each room also has a porch or balcony so you can enjoy the resort with some privacy. The beds have mosquito nets and they also provide homemade mosquito repellent. The room also comes with a refillable water bottle which they refill for you every day. They really thought of everything! Not all rooms have AC, so make sure you ask for one if that's what you want.nnThe food: The food is amazing! For breakfast you can choose from different options (banana pancakes, smoothie bowls…) with yummy coffee and tea. For lunch and dinner, they serve beautiful Indonesian food (not too spicy). It’s usually rice with fish or a meat and loads of nice veggies and tempeh. There is always a vegetarian option for those that want it. You can order soda or fresh coconuts for a small price. And the resort does have beer for sale which is nice while you enjoy the sunset in the pool.nnSurfing: I am intermediate level surfer and I had the best time ever. Make sure you bring reef booties because a lot of the breaks are very reefy. The surf guide will take you to the best place for your level. There is something for everyone on Simeulue! From beginner waves to barrels, from super steep drops to big fat slow waves. It’s all there! So even during low season, one can have loads of fun! Most importantly, you will be able to surf with close to 0 other people in the water. And that is a surfer’s paradise if I know any! They have boards for hire but the selection is not amazing so if you can bring your own boards do that. Otherwise, just contact the resort to ask in advance if they have what you need. They will do everything they can to accommodate you. I was able to hire a 6’2 with some volume which was amazing for my level.nnOther activities: There is snorkelling (which they provide gear for). Either you take a car to somewhere close to the resort or they can organize boat trips to nearby islands. Think perfect post card beach and then some! They also organize scuba diving trips, surf trips to other islands, and waterfall hikes to name a few. You can also use the scooters to go explore the island on your own. They also organize massages if you want one. Finally, they have yoga classes twice a day (7am and 4pm). They have the yoga shalla overlooking the ocean so it really creates a peaceful vibe. So if you are not a surfer, you will not be bored for sure!nnThe staff: Everyone is so welcoming and friendly at Mahi-Mahi! They are just great human beings who want you to have a great vacation.nnOverall, Mahi-Mahi is an amazing place. I could not have had a better time all thanks to the amazing staff and beautiful island of Simeulue! I will be back for sure!

Mahi Mahi surf resort was awesome! They have a great set up out there amongst an amazing island of waves. To me I'm happy as long as we have good waves, but as a bonus the food was awesome (lots of variety inc. crayfish one night), the accomodation was clean and new and the staff where all also cool. To top if off they have alot of Bintang =) As a muslim island beer is hard to get so extra star for keeping the guests happy =) !

The wave at the front is an amazing A frame with left barrels and consistent right handers, food is incredible and the resort facilities are as good as in the photos.
