Pematang Siantar Animal Park (THPS) or previously known as Siantar Zoo and Pematang Siantar Zoo, is a zoo located in Pematangsiantar city. This zoo was officially opened to the public on November 27, 1936 with an area of ​​around 4.5 hectares. THPS is located on Jl. Cap. MH. Sitorus No. 10, Pematang Siantar City, North Sumatra Province. Until now THPS still maintains its status as the most complete and best zoo in the North Sumatra region. The collection of animals and their popularity even defeated the Medan Zoo with an area that was tens of times larger than THPS and was the largest zoo in the North Sumatra region located in the provincial capital of North Sumatra, Medan City. Despite various limitations such as the limited space available, lack of funding and understanding for the animal exhibition rejuvenation project, through a fairly good animal care effort, THPS was quite successful in carrying out its role as a conservation institution and could be classified as one of the best zoos among zoo in Indonesia. Pematangsiantar Animal Park has a permit in the form of a Decree of the Minister of Forestry with a Number. SK.84 / Menhut-II / 2007 issued on March 15, 2007.
