This private island is home to just 22 villas with an excellent bar, restaurant and boat house offering beach activities. The staff are incredibly kind and attentive. The bamboo rooms are beautiful and each villa offers unique views. Our favorite was villa 20 with refreshing open sea views with the longest sun exposure. We got villa 6 and 18 which were shadier and a bit more obstructed but they were still fabulous nonetheless. Villas 16 and 17 overlooking the Mangrove Bay might seem great but the beach is really warm to the point it’s a little gross. Looking at it is nice but the low tide washes the water away leaving a dry landscape for most of the day. We took the kayak out around to Deadmans Beach and enjoyed lying naked as we had the beach to ourselves and there was not a human in sight. A wonderful private island experience all around.nnBe warned that it’s a journey to get there: a ferry from Singapore to Bintan which will likely give you the worst motion sickness ever imaginable, an hour plus private car transfer through Bintan, and a small speedboat transfer from Bintan to Cempedak. However painful, it’s worth it.

You are literally the only ones who would not refund us our stay and only allow to postpone. In the middle of a pandemic. Ridiculous.

Stayed 4 nights at Cempedak. Was an amazing experience. Feeling really remote but with staff who made us feel home and food we were looking forward to eat again as soon as we left the restaurant. Highly recommended. We stayed in beach villa 5. Very private (maybe most private villa on the island) but still close to the main pool and restaurant. Also the spa experience was great as the spa is build on a rock overlooking the ocean.
