Don't bother coming here if you want a decent night's sleep. Despite the tranquility the website suggests, there we kids with loud exhausts driving around at all times of the night. Something nocturnal lived in the roof that banged around. There were plenty of mosquitoes and no nets, and to cap it off there was a worker outside using a petrol whipper snipper at 7 am ! We had asked when we checked in if it was quiet and were assured it was. Unbelievable lies.

Cheap price, calm place, but the room need to be maintained well.

Just a kilometre out of town along a busy dusty track, Roman Sinasi is the nicest place to stay here. Batak style bungalows and simple terraced huts are set in a quiet, well maintained garden that extends to the lake. The Batak bungalows have balconies that overlook the lake and paddy fields. Rooms have minimal facilities but the shower has hot water. Breakfast is not included and all its restaurant serves is nasi or mie goreng. Theres no wifi; in fact the whole town seems to be wifi free.nnThe public minibus (identified as being the green and battered one) will stop outside.nnThe locals are Batak, have a different language, and are very friendly. Few westerners visit so expect a lot of attention.nnThere are a number of restaurants along the lake shore. The town is renowned for its food. Fresh lobsters and goldfish plucked from netted frames in the lake.
