Alami Alor Dive Resort

Alami has to be the best place to both 1) stay and 2) dive in Alor. The resort is set in a really nice forested area giving you that tucked away-jungle feel. Great views over the bay, and the house reef right in front provides some fun snorkeling anytime you want to hop off the jetty. The bungalows are well designed, understated but stylish, and very clean. Dive boats and rental equipment, service are all top notch. Food was delicious, well varied, and fresh. Amazing chocolate chip cookies. Good selection of beverages, alcohol, wine available in a very remote location! The staff are all very professional and extremely friendly, even the gardeners greet you with huge smiles in the morning. The owners themselves - Lauren and Max - are really fun and friendly people and have great knowledge of the waters around and diving. The attention and detail put into planning and designing the whole resort is very evident - small touches around the table settings, the beautiful woods used all over the property, the nice little thermos cups they serve tea in on the boat when you come out of every dive, on top of just the general excellent maintenance of everything. Lauren and Max also went out of their way to help with a few specific things in our situation - helping to replace a broken filter on my camera, trying to time the diving for our work schedules, arranging some to learn about the nearby pearl farming. Everything about this place is high quality.

A wonderful place to spend your dive/snorkling holiday.nWe stayed a week in the start of the season, so the diving conditions was improving. We saw lots of dolphins on our way to the dive sites, and we were lucky to see hammerheads and eagel ray at Current Alley ++nAlor can offer world class scubadiving, but it can also be challenging conditions.nThe dive manager, Pete, solved that in a good way and choose the more protected areas if strong current. The dive resort put safety first and keep clearly a high standard.nnThe food and facilities was excellent, great rooms and wonderful staff. The management/owners are very friendly and service minded.nnIt's great to be able to experience a successful consept like they have created in Alami Alor Dive Resort. Alami Alor offered everything a remote resort could provide ; beach front, charming rooms, fantastic food (oh god that lunches and dinner were good), the most incredible house reef we have ever seen and a nice little village a 100 feet from the resort. Could not have dreamed of a better place for a getaway with some stunning reefs and dive sites. Lauren and Max were great host as well as there dive instructor Kevin who is a full blown passionate about the area. Don't miss on doing a day of cultural tour and visit an Abui Tribe village or enjoy a game of football with he kids in the village next door :)
