Colonial Creek Campground

We stopped by here to take a short walk and work out if we want to try camping here in the future. It's a gorgeous spot, with lots of picnic tables and many trails in the area to explore. We will definitely be coming back for a couple of nights and a lot of hiking in the future.nnEdit to add: Visited again yesterday to see if we could catch the season's first snowfall in the mountains - and we did! Fall colors plus winter snow are GORGEOUS.

Beautiful camp ground with a gorgeous lake. This place is by far one of my favorite places. The sites are all sorts of sizes so please check in advance with recreation.gov to make sure your site will be what you need. The trails here are very well maintained and so is the beach. The water is very cold, gets deep quickly and has some very strong currents so please wear a life jacket at all times. Kayak and sup users be aware of the wind it picks up quick and tends to blow hard.

Very nice and quiet in the off-season if a little damp. No services or fees this late in the season so pack your own water. Pit toilet available a short walk from the campsites. Beautiful hiking along the trails.

I’ve stayed here all my camping life with my dad and grandparents to taking my 3! 56 years of memories from childhood to present. Will always come back and stay here if I can ever get a spot again. I’ve never had a problem (we like to camp on weeknights less traffic and more quiet!)nBest place to fish and hike!

Very beautiful place! It does get super busy on holiday weekends and if you're camping there you could get a lot of people walking around your site. We love camping there though and have done it twice now.
