BADIN LAKE CAMPGROUND

We stayed here in our tent on our way to New England in site # 11. It was a weekday and the host camper was happy to accommodate us right by the lake. It was clean, the bathrooms were clean with hot and cold water. There was no electric outlets at the site or in the bathroom but that was not an issue for us. The nearest water was in the bathroom, which was maybe a 100bfeet away. The site was right by the lake and the sunset was simply spectacular! Be sure to bring firewood since the host camper did not have any. We just stayed the night, so did not get a chance to explore. We are planning to go back for a longer stay.

I had a horrible experience here over the weekend. The location used to be great and I have been going here for many years. Evidentially some crazy old man with no teeth runs it now and it’s horrible!!! I saw another review about him so I thought I would also share so that they know it wasn’t an isolated incident. When I arrived with my husband, he accused us of not being in the correct spot, when we had the confirmation but he told us he couldn’t see?? Then he I guess thought he could get back on us for being correct on being in the right place so he called the police on us to check us for alcohol??? They took a couple beers from the cooler and fined us all because of this crazy old loon on drugs. He then spent the entire night stalking us around the campground. When my wife went to the bathroom, he parked his truck OUTSIDE AND WATCHED HER. WORST PLACE EVER! FIRE THIS CREEPER! This used to be the best camp sight and for years me and my wife have gone here and someone else took care of the property. I wouldn’t trust the old man around anyone, I do not feel comfortable taking my family here ever again.

Great place. Good view of water from many sites. Quiet, but warning, no electric so many generators, but people were polite and ran them very little. Sites not very level. Shower house was ok, but not new or sparkling clean.

I've been to uwharrie many of times and for the first time i stayed at the lower loop camp ground all last weekend. I would highly recommend it. Although some reviews may seem weird regarding the ranger. He was 100% nice and respectful to me. Just a man trying to keep a beautiful place, a beautiful place.

We went once over the July 4th weekend in 2012. My oldest is allergic to the sun and had a bad episode. The manager was very kind and checked on us frequently. We deal with this a lot so we were prepared. We ended up leaving early and booked for another weekend 10/22. We stayed in the lower loop site 9 which was the best spot for our canoe (getting it up and down into the water was a breeze). I would also recommend site 1 but it has stairs if you cant use them. We already booked again for spring and plan to go several more times throughout the year.
