Besakih Temple

It’s indeed a beautiful Temple , it’s grand and magical . It’s mother of all Temple in BalinUnfortunately , our experience was ruined . My mood was gone before entering the temple .nAs soon as we arrived, few women and kids “attack” us and offer (not offer ) but force us to buy things (flower, incense sticks, photograph, sarong and few things that I do did not pay attention) that we do not need actually .nnWell , actually it’s nice to have flower put on your ears but not by forcing .nat the beginning we thought it’s a courtesy but then we realize when they ask for money . You can’t even move because they made a circle around us and keep on pushing to buy their things until I scold them because I have two kids that starts to cry .nnActually , at that point I don’t even feel to enter the temple anymore but my husband insist that since we already there we better go in and take few picture .nnOnce you are inside , few locals will come to you again and offer as a guide to show you around, if my mood was not ruined I would definitely ask fo a guide but then I don’t feel to go around anymore .nnAt the end I realize , why there are not many visitors compare to another temple that we visited earlier . Maybe that’s because ....nnHope in future , they can consider to change it make it more friendly and welcome to tourist .nnThank you

Besakih Temple is a sprawling complex, on a steep walk climb, where you can hire a pillion ride to the top if you need, almost 15 minutes walk. It is spread over vast space, elevated, on steps, the largest and holiest temple of Hindu religion in Bali. Almost 2 dozen temples, convents, praying places, most are locked up but we walk thru them. As we climb up the thin trail, we reach the top temple and see a huge panoramic view below. Wonder what it would have looked when created 2000 yrs ago, the design, labor, and execution. Needs a lot of walking & climbing but every step is worth it. Don’t shy out….. Great food shops at the base parking.

Mother Temple

We visited the largest and oldest Hindu temple in Bali on a rainy day.nnThe facility was completely empty due to Corona.nNevertheless, a guide took us through the sacred grounds of the temple.nWe learned a lot about Hinduism in Bali, which has little in common with Hindus in India.nThe entire facility is very impressive.nnMen should wear long trousers here because their legs have to be covered.
