A great historical place that has many stories to tell, especially about javanese empire and its people. Not bigger than Keraton Jogja but definitely not inferior in terms of its heritage. You need to take off your shoes somewhere along the way to the museum, so you might wanna wear flip flops or sandals.

We had an extremely pleasant experience with our lovely English-speaking guide Kumaidi the Comedian, who really impressed us with his humour and consistent engagement. Through the tour with him, we learnt a lot about the history and culture of Surakarta and the royal family. Definitely worth a quick visit and the cost (only 10.000rp per person + 70.000rp for a guide)!

More neglected and decaying than ever, this place is a shame. Now only the museum section is open, the formerly open palace courtyard is closed, making a visit less interesting than ever.nSolo's other palace, Puri Mangkunegeran, is far better maintained and more interesting to visit.

The maintenance of this place is so poor. The exhibit is dirty and dusty. So sad. There is no explanation whatsoever. If you dont hire a guide, it is useless. The price of guide here is Rp.75.000 and have to be paid together when we purchase ticket. The garden is poorly kept. This is the result of ongoing family feud. Previously visitor can visit the museum then enter the palace, now only the museum part is open.
