I spent last year’s end of year holidays at Bukittinggi and visited the Jam Gadang which is one of the most popular tourism locations in West Sumatera. My family and I took pictures in front of the clock tower and explored the places around it.nnThere were many shops and stalls that sold food, toys, clothes, and souvenirs. After walking around and purchasing some items, we decided to eat at a restaurant nearby. There was a really long line of people waiting outside but it was worth the wait because the food was so delicious.nnUnfortunately, one of the bad things that I have to point out is that this tourism place got overcrowded which made it very hard for us to move around quickly from one place to another. We had to be patient with the never-ending queues and the stuffy situation. But other than that, I definitely think that the Jam Gadang is a great place to check out especially if you are visiting West Sumatera!

We were on vacation and purposely visited the Jam Gadang (Big Clock) Tower, the city of Bukittinggi icon, for a couple of time. And, now the local government has made some great major renovations to the surrounding place. Pedestrians and tourists now can have more space for moving, walking, sitting and taking pictures, which is great!

Heritage and landmark of Bukittinggi city in West Sumatra. Good street food options at night. Try the famous Teh Talua (egg-tea) here. The taste is close to Thai tea but more energy due to the egg and lemon
