A great place to stay before and after going off to the jungle to see the orangutans. Rooms are comfortable with fans and mossy nets over the bed. Nice cold outside shower and western style toilet. The restaurant / bar area overlooks the river and is a great spot to have a meal or just a beer and chill out and watch the locals swimming. The food I had was basic but tasty. Lots of trips can be booked from here and staff were helpful. Dont expect all mod cons as it is an Ecolodge and effort has been put in here to keep things simple and sustainable. Overall a very nice stay.

If you are going on the jungle trek to see Orangutan, or just want a break from Medan, the Ecolodge is a great place to stay. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable, sleeping to the sounds of the jungle and the river is amazing. The service was very good and we enjoyed our two meals at the restaurant very much. Plenty of vegetarian options too.

You have to cross a 'rope' bridge to get to the hotel, from where we could see the monkeys play by the river below. Rooms are comfortable (without warm water though) in a basic jungle style. Reception and bar area looks great at night. Excellent starting place for a jungle trek.

The most amazing kitchen in this part of Sumatra and fantastic close-to-the-nature rooms. Stunning experience. Don’t expect toothbrush sets and fancy little hotel soaps. Expect nature at its best!

Spartan rooms but lots of trees and monkeys around. The staff at the restaurant are friendly and helpful, though we mostly had only our breakfast there or coffee/drinks/snacks. We first stayed here in one of the Orangutan rooms over a weekend - where it can be fun but quite noisy with large, local groups enjoying their day/s off. So earplugs are useful.nnUnfortunately, when we returned after our two day trek, they moved us to a room with two twin beds instead of a double. Both my husband and I are too tall to sleep comfortably on twin beds; so we had no choice but to move to a lower grade room that had a double bed. I totally sympathize with keeping facilities clean in such a humid environment but this room smelled badly of mold and we moved to another hotel the next day.nnSo if you plan to stay here, make very sure that what you are getting matches your requirements. And unplug any electronics in a thunderstorm; we had left an iPhone charger plugged into the wall while we were out. The entire circuit at the front of the room got knocked out and our charger fried; luckily no devices were charging then.
