Tamarind Spa

OMG! Best SPA ever! Do book an appointment earlier if it is more than 2 or 3 people. I love all their treatment. Staff is super polite and massages are very good. Ambience is very nice.

After returning from a 40K road bike ride, I decided that a trip to the spa was in order and emailed them to see if I could create my own 1/2 day package. They were very accommodating and I was able to arrange to get in that afternoon.nnI walked over from my hotel in Penestanan and the receptionist could not have been more welcoming! Upon arrival I was greeted with an ice-cold towel and a glass of refreshing cold ginger tea.nnI was shown to the back by my therapist Junie. She began by washing my feet in a nice flower bath. From there we headed to the room.nnMy first treatment was a 90 minute Balinese massage and it was excellent. The quality was better than other massages I have had in Ubud. Following the massage I had the Balinese Boreh scrub. The paste included powdered sandalwood, whole cloves, ginger, cinnamon, coriander seeds, rice powder, turmeric root and nutmeg. It was fantastic. Excellent for my sore muscles. To finish off the afternoon I took a 30 minute flower bath where I was served delicious fresh fruit and hot ginger tea.nnThe three treatments cost $750 IDR or $70.00 CAD. This treatment at home would cost me at least three times the price so it is good value compared to Canada or the US however, it is on the higher side for Ubud. Although the prices might be a bit higher than other places in Ubud but so is the quality of the treatment.nnI found the quality of the massage so good I returned the following week after I had pulled a hamstring running because I knew that I would get a proper high-quality massage and it didn't disappoint.

Oh how I love this place! This was my second visit, and I was excited to return after nearly 3 years, when I had one of the best deep-tissue massages of my life. I was looking forward to seeing if the quality still held up after all this time. Much to my (and my muscles) enjoyment, the quality was still fantastic! One of the few places that ACTUALLY goes deep. I will definitely be back, hopefully sooner than 3 years this time! Highly recommend.

Besides the spa, there is facial, nail spa and pedicure. The ambience of Tamarind Spa is nice. The staffs are very cheerful and friendly. The place is neat and well maintained. They also offer spa training for those interested. They do offer and light refreshment of fruits and herbal tea. I opted for Balinese massage. Before the massage, they offered three oils to choose from for the massage. The massage was very relaxing. I would say that the price is 3 times what is offered on the roadside but worth a try.
