I have climbed Gunung Kerinci a total of 4 times since 2008 and organised at least 7 expeditions to the mountain. It is the highest volcano in the whole of indonesia, standing at 3805m. To me, this mountain is my favourite 3000m mountain as it is quiet, tough and has a real expedition feel. If you are considering climb to Everest Base Camp or Kilimanjaro, this mountain is a good mountain to clock your altitude experience. I highly recommend climbing this mountain as compared to touristy Rinjani.

The highest volcano in Southeast Asia! Very cool,nnTrack is quite difficult, really uphill from the start. The hardest track in shelter 2 - 3.nnThe temperature is not too cold as long as you wear a jacket, it is recommended to camp at shelter 2 or 3 so that you want to go to the top near the top.
