MONUMENT SEDATI NGOROnnStatue of freedom fighters stands around the T-junction of Ngoro Indutrial Park (NIP). Markers of the events of the revolution are one of the best monuments in Mojokerto because the shape is different from the shape of the monument that we often see is only a bullet shaped pillar. But unfortunately not many people know why the minument was founded there?nnWhen the Dutch launched a military movement in September 1948, republican fighters were forced to undergo a change of position. Dutch soldiers attacked almost all positions of the Indonesian military, even the capital of Jogjakarta fell and government officials were taken prisoner. The Netherlands took momentum when the Indonesian military position was chaotic due to the Musi incident in Madiun, known as Madiun Affair. In the Dutch military analysis, at that time Indonesia's military strength was weak due to the republic's internal dissension. But the estimate was missed because the fighters refused to surrender and counterattacked using guerrilla tactics. Then there is the war of Independence volume 2.nnOne day in February 1949, a company of troops under the leadership of Captain Budiman Sumantri set up a barricade. The Budiman Company was part of the Battalion Bambang Yuwono (BY) combat unit which was then stationed in the Ngoro-Mojosari area. The company used the former Sedati Sugar Factory building as its headquarters. The real mission of the BY batlayon is to enter the Sidoarjo region with the ultimate goal along with other struggle units to take Surabaya. But the mission was hindered by the strong guard of opponents on the bridge Ngerame, Tanjangrono and Porong bridge. While getting into Sidoarjo by crossing the Porong River is also risky because the water is big during the rainy season at that time.

The condition of the Sedati Monument at the end of 2017, looks well maintained, there is repainting and the construction of a bridge to the Monument.nA glimpse of information from Joehan Nafiq's brothers about the background of the construction of this Sedati monument.nStatues of freedom fighters stand around the T-junction of Ngoro Indutrial Park (NIP). The marker of the revolutionary period is one of the best monuments in Mojokerto Regency because the shape is different from the shape of the monument that we often see only in the form of bullet-shaped monuments. But unfortunately not many know why the document was founded !!nnOne day in February 1949, a company of troops under the leadership of Captain Budiman Sumantri made a barricade. Kompi Budiman was part of the Bambang Yuwono Battalion (BY) combat unit which was then stationed in the Ngoro-Mojosari area. The company used the former Sedati Sugar Factory building as its headquarters. The real mission of batlayon BY is to enter the Sidoarjo region with the final target along with other struggle units to seize Surabaya. But the mission was hindered by the strong guarding of opponents on the Ngerame, Tanjangrono and Porong bridges. While entering Sidoarjo by crossing Porong River is also risky because the water is large during the rainy season at that time.nnKompi Budiman made a barricade on the highway that connects Sedati with Japanan which was then controlled by the enemy. The barricade is made by cutting down trees and placing them across the streets, rocks or any object that can hinder the opponent's movement. The barricade must be made because a few days before there had been sporadic battles in Jedong village. After the incident, it is likely that the Dutch soldiers will do the cleaning and try to take control of Sedari.nnNot long after the barricade was installed, at around 10:00 a.m. the movement of the enemy troops began. A brencarrier walked slowly along with the formation of the troops some distance behind him. The combat vehicle was the way to open a bigger attack. Barricades installed by fighters are quite effective in blocking the opponent's pace. The arrival of the light armored vehicle was immediately greeted by gunfire. An effort that is less effective because the distance of the vehicle is still outside the effective shooting distance. But the rain of bullets was enough to surprise the opponent.nnA few days after the incident, precisely on 11 February, the movements of the opposing troops were again visible. Before entering the Sedati area, they had fired cannons first. The position of the fighters was in disarray because each of them tried to save himself regardless of the formation of his troops. After the cannonball and mortier stopped, the tank and armored moved into Sedati. Sporadic resistance was carried out to welcome the opponent. But the resistance did not mean much because the warrior formation was in ruins. On that day Sedati fell into the hands of the Dutch. Shortly afterwards Mojosari was also managed by the Dutch army.nnApparently Sedati and Mojosari have indeed been targeted by opponents. From the two regions, a large-scale attack was carried out on the position of fighters in the Kutorejo area. Dutch troops attacked from various directions. The position of republican forces who are members of Hayam Wuruk's Command Force is caught. The battle took place from morning to night on 12 February 1949.nnIf only at that time Sedati could be maintained, of course the fighters still had a way to escape from the siege. The big battle was an open battle, the two forces faced with fighting weapons and courage, similar to the November 1945 battle in Surabaya. There were no exact records of the number of casualties, but at least more than 1,000 lives were lost.
