A view over Sawahlunto, and about the miner town I can be clear: this is an absolute recommendation for everyone visiting the Minangkabau lands. It's world heritage for a reason. This town tells a story about the colonial Dutch and locals, about history, economy, the mining, even more than an average old town in big Indonesian cities.

It is a perfect place to enjoy the sight of sawahlunto from above. Even in the night, like I did. I don't know how it looked like in the morning or afternoon.
