Neerputhoor Temple

Neerputhur Temple is an ancient Siva temple in Puthur Village of Malappuram District. The sanctum sanctorum where the sivalingam is placed is surrounded by water through out the year and is believed to be the presence of Goddess Ganga. In rainy season the sreekovil will be submerged in water. The place is very calm and sereene. Very good temple staff.

One ancient underground Shiva temple in Kerala. God Shiva along with Ganga exist in Swayambhoo form. Two ponds are there, one is known for Goddess Parvathi. Usually Brahmin Ladies(antharjanam) only use that one.

Very ancient temple. I visited the place during monsoon, so the Shiva linga was almost submerged in water. The amazing fact about the temple open well near the shrine (Sreekovil) is that water level of the well is about an inch above the surrounded water level there by ensuring the purity of well water. The water which touches the linga is believed to be Ganga and hence some restrictions are there to walking through it. Temple opens only Inthe morning session, say 9am to 10 am. Excellent place for visiting as well as worshipping.
