You will be in for a surprise as this place is tucked away from the limelight owing to there being Moopun and a few more falls in near vicinity. The waterfall does not require too much of walking. There's an open ground with swings and Gazebo where children can play.nThe place has been well maintained by the locals. The last about a km is a tricky road where cars with low road clearance need deft handling to negotiate.nThe water is very clear and good for swimming. There are no changing rooms for ladies though.nThe place is not overcrowded as it's a little away from the main road.nnPls be responsible and don't litter the place. Carry a small trash bag and kindly pick up whatever trash that comes your way on your way back.

Umberlene falls is a treasure tucked away from the civilisation. There is a grassland on the rolling hills with swings, wooden benches and gazebos to sit and enjoy the nature. The grassland leads to about 750m trek, some of which is difficult for elderly as there are wooden steps. The fall per se is very beautiful with a big natural pool, however its very deep and its advisable to swim only if you are a good swimmer.nnApproach: It is about 90 km from Shillong ahead of Jowai, you need to follow the NH6 and take a right turn as the Google loc shows. The google location is deceptive and bound to lead you farther away from the falls. Set the location for Moopun falls, about 1km short of Moopun falls there is a roundel, confirm from few shops near the roundel, and take left (see photo of roundel posted by me), from the roundel its about 8-9km. No markings, so reach upto Mushut village and again ask, a rt turn after a km will lead you to a difficult track, vehicles with good ground clearance are pliable and can reach upto the grassland.nnIts a natural beauty and not many people venture to it, try and reach by 10-11 AM to enjoy it the most as it gets cloudy post 1PM. Carry your own eatables, just a few vendors sit near the grassland with soft drinks, boiled eggs etc.nnBest wishes, happy exploring
