Nartiang Monoliths

A historical site of significant importance that has been deprived of the visibility it deserves. The locals have kept the site reasonably well, but the government needs to step up and make a big deal out of it. There is a board on site that says this site has been declared a site of national importance, but nothing besides the board and the monoliths suggest the same.

A must visit place for Anthropologists, Sociologists, Archeologists. A bed of knowledge for them. And of course to those who wants to know what history is and was.

Wow wow wow, I wonder how much time the heroes went through hard work to erect these beautiful monoliths. These are so many in numbers.nA must visit place which is very close to Jowai and not many have explored it.

Even if the place is deep inside a village, the trip was worth it. Its stunning. The history of the monoliths is great also its beautiful. Must visit place if you do to Jowai.

The place is worth a visit. Can be maintained better with wash rooms and a little more cleanliness. A word of caution..for the ignorant like me..it's a sacred place so kindly do not stand on the rocks and pose.nn* The monolith represents the family structure and some made as trophies as in the case of the Narthiang ones ..the flat structures were used for sacrifice and prayer as the ones in the Mawphlang sacred grove/forest.* ( Thank You Dr Kalyani )nnPls maintain the sanctity of the place.
