Maa Markama Temple located at Bissam Cuttack village of Rayagada district is a place of tourist interest.[1] It is the only shrine (Shakti Peethas) of Devi Maa Markama and Maa karkama in the Indian state of Odisha. The temple of Maa Karkama (believed to be the sister of Maa Markama) is situated next to the temple of Maa Markama. The legend says that the Devi is being worshiped for centuries. However, the temple was constructed in the recent past. A junior college and a university college[2] in Bissam Cuttack are named after Maa Markama. The temple is one of the places of tourist attractions in Rayagada district.[3][4][5][6] Dussehra and chaitra Paraba are celebrated every year at the temple. The nearest rail head is Chatikona, which is 7 km (4.34 miles) from Bissam Cuttack.

This temple is located far from the living areas in and around the Greenery. It is always a great pleasure to visit this temple whenever i go to my home. Its a really daily kindof duty to go there to worship the Goddess. Praying to the Goddess gives me immense pleasure and Peace inside me. Almost every citizen of our village likes to visit there. It is a long way to walk though to there but the evening time walk makes the mood fresh. Me, my family members as well as our Relatives always spare our time to visit here. The Goddess namely Maa Markama blesses her devotees and always keeps her devotees so Happy. Our village is really very much blessed to have such a kind of Goddess in a Such a Beautiful Temple in here.
