if you have visited TEZPUR and havnt been here.....then it will remain incomplete.......this is a heritage and an important place fulfilled with rich culture and knowledge.......you get past glimpses of culture; tradition and life.....# HOUSE of JYOTI PRASAD AGARWALA converted to museum for help of tourists to visit and learn about pioneers of our music industry.....he was a freedom fighter and an alrounder to enrich our culture.......

It was originally the family house of Jyoti Prasad Agarwala, the noted lyricist, writer and freedom fighter of Assam, now it's turned into a cultural center called Jyoti Bharati Museum, famously known as Poki, it got its name from being the first concrete building of Tezpur. Even the Father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi visited the place.

Very nice and historical place of Tezpur....... Jyoti Prasad Agarwala (17 June 1903 – 17 January 1951) was noted as Assamese playwright, songwriter, poet, writer and film maker from Assam. He was considered as Assamese cultural icon, deeply revered for his creative vision and output and is popularly called the Rupkonwar of Assamese culture.......nHis death anniversary (17 January) is observed as Silpi divas (Artists' Day) in his honor.nnMahatma Gandhi stayed in POKI twice ( in 1921 and 1934) at the time of Assam visit during Swaraj Andolan.......

It was built in 19th century. Mahatma Gandhi had also visit this house during Indian freedom movement. Jyoti prashad Agarwal was the owner of this property.
