Perunthenaruvi Falls

Visited Perunthenaruvi 'Falls' on 31.3.'21.nWaste of time and effort !nThe tourism department, and vested interests like those in the tourism business make a hue and cry about this place, but it was a great disappointment when we visited.nnIt is not a waterfall, but a stretch of rapids or cascades, where the River Pamba flows downhill over a very rocky bed.nHowever, this stretch, of what once may have been an attractive place to visit, has been destroyed by the building of a dam upriver.nMoreover, we visited in summer, and the flow was just a trickle, comparatively. Talking to the locals, we were informed that even during the rainy season the place has lost its grandeur.nnNOT RECOMMENDED for out of station tourists. Not really worth the trouble. May be a good place to spend some time for locals within a 10km radius.nBesides, in peninsular India, where the streams and rivers are rain-fed, you are likely to be disappointed if you visit such places in summer. In Kerala, the rainy season is between June and the middle of November, and waterfalls, cascades, rapids, etc. may be worth visiting only till about the end of January.

Perunthenaruvi falls one of the nature gift that doesnt maintained or not properly maintained one . About the falls i think need more development needed ,its under construction from the look i thought. The view about the falls was very good ,there is pump house there. Now there is no much water there . You can see much water in the rainy season . The falls is very beautiful at the same time its dangerous because you can see the dead holes in the rocks. There is no guards to control you. The safety of yourself is in your hands. You can enjoy scenery there with your family in the evenings. There is no bathroom or restroom facilities.
