District Institute of Education and Training Kavaratti is the only DIET located in Lakshadweep. Its main aim to provide inputs to plan formulation and implementation of flagship programme of the Government of India such as,SSA, RMSA, Smagra etc. Half of the DIET Building is occupied by College of Education: Calicut University.nnDIET Building was inaugurated on 15th August 2003. It runs Diploma in Education programme of two years duration; currently its strength is around 70 students. It has got a seminar hall which needs thorough modernisation. DIET has got the best wi-fi available in Kavaratti but it is dead slow. Time has come, this DIET too be fully equipped with all latest technologies.nnIt has got about 8 faculty members two of whom hold PhD degrees. Brief interaction with Faculty, once get the impression that they are well aware about latest in education field and are very much with the mainstream activities.nnDIET Library must also be properly equipped with all modern technological requirements. Let it be fully online.
