Uttareshwara Temple, situated at Ter in Maharashtra, is the oldest surviving brick temple in Maharashtra, dated to the immediate post-Vakataka period of the 6th-7th centuries CE.

It's a historical temple which got damaged during Latur (Killari) earthquake, but efforts made to restore it later by state archeological department. It's one of many Shiva temples located in Ter (district Osmanabad) a town during Satvahana dynasty 1st century BC, about 2000 years ago. Today there is ample excavation happening around this village and many articrafts have been found. There is a state archeological museum in the village where you can find finely wood-carved entrance of this temple. The museum houses many articrafts including stone idols, terracotta household items and ornaments etc. One of the exacavtion site has a well constructed bathing ghat (Agni teertham / Kallol). There could be several other sites which needs to be exacated for better understanding of history of this place.
